Our Story
Goodhope Welfare Organisation (GHWO) was born from a simple yet profound belief: every child deserves dignity, health, and the opportunity to dream. Founded in northern Bangladesh, we began as a small group of local volunteers who saw what others overlooked, e.g., children living in orphanages who have had difficulty with daily meals and sub-standard shelter, and also lacked the most basic elements of health and care.
What started as informal visits to nearby orphanages, soon revealed a much larger truth. Across the region, thousands of children were growing up with poor quality insufficient food, without soaps to wash themselves or their cloths, without toothbrushes and toothpaste to care for their teeth, without access to eye or ear screenings, and without the feminine hygiene products that adolescent girls desperately needed.
These were not complex problems requiring massive infrastructure. They were simple gaps, gaps that could be closed with compassion, organisation, and dedicated effort.
And so GHWO was formally established, registering first with the Department of Social Welfare and then with the NGO Affairs Bureau of Bangladesh to ensure transparency, accountability, and lasting impact.
